About
Sarah Mayhew is a director, actor, and educator based in Birmingham, AL. Her primary passions are quirky new works, contemporary magical realism, and finding the funny at rock bottom. She holds an MFA in Performance & Pedagogy from Texas Tech University and a BA in Musical Theatre from Birmingham-Southern College. Recently, she directed Witch at the National High School Institute (Cherubs) and A Sick Day for Amos McGee at Birmingham Children's Theatre.
Sarah works as the Recruitment Coordinator for the Department of Theatre at the University of Alabama at Birmingham in addition to her freelance work, which includes teaching youth theatre classes and performing professionally. Recent credits include the White Witch in Narnia: The Musical (Birmingham Children's Theatre) and Squeaky Fromme u/s in Assassins (Virginia Samford Theatre). During the summer, Sarah works at the National High School Institute: Theatre Division (Cherubs) as Directing Faculty and teaches Musical Theatre, Improv, and Acting at Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp in Twin Lake, Michigan.
Sarah is a founding member of the Feminist Commune Theatre Collective, a group of theatre artists committed to producing feminist, anti-racist theatre and performance art.
